To have a studio that does not shy away from source material brutality is perfect for truly exploring the struggles and trauma that the characters of Gantz are forced to endure. MAPPA’s recent adaption of Chainsaw Man likewise has an abundance of gory, explosive, blood-spilling combat reminiscent of a major theme within the Gantz universe. Humans and aliens alike are routinely ripped to shreds, blown to pieces and cut down. Gantz is also well-known for its use of graphic gore and violence during the hunts and invasion. MAPPA is expertly able to portray characters' emotions through their expressions and melancholic tone, a similarity to the air of dread and horror that Gantz explores through the conflict of its own cast. Attack on Titan: The Final Season in particular is full of depth through the characters' emotional turmoil and expressive use of characterization, much like the manga itself. MAPPA has seen some recent success with its adapted works, portraying aspects from its source material with the same emotional depth that could be found on the pages.
